Happy new year everyone, I hope you all had an amazing new years, whichever way you decided to celebrate it! For my part, I spent the evening with James, my best friend Jess and her boyfriend Kevin. We took a nice walk around 10 pm to the Old Port of Montreal, where thousands of people were grouped to ring in the new year. There were fireworks at midnight, but I think the most memorable part was when I got to eat this bad boy right here.
I also realized that my boots are probably needing to be changed, as the snow seeped right into my boots and I found myself walking back to James’ apartment (about a half hour walk), with drenched and cold socks. I must say, it is not the best feeling to have wet socks during the winter, nope.
While many people are taking this day to look ahead and think of their goals and resolutions, I am going to take a moment and step back to review the last month of 2015. Ah, December. You were filled with many exams, which I have already seemed to have forgotten and moved on from, and a ton of happiness; from Christmas, to seeing family, to seeing the Nutcracker, eating good food and all the activities that filled my heart with enough joy to share with everyone.
Planning big things with the bestie
The month of December was the month that my best friend and I realized it was time for us to execute a plan we have been dreaming about since we are 17. I will be posting more details about it when the time is right, but this has definitely been a huge highlight for the month of December!
I never really watch TV, and I barely ever have the time or the motivation to watch a long movie (motivation, really?), but since I have all of this free time, I have been watching a bunch of movies! I just love getting comfy on the couch, snuggling up with a blanket, and taking the time to get lost in a good movie. My favorite type of movies are the funny comedies that end with the girl and the guy getting together, typical right? If I can predict the ending, I know it’s going to be an enjoyable movie for me!
Is it weird that I had never tasted avocado on toast until just this month? Now, it is an actual problem as I seem to be eating avocado on toast almost every day. It is SO good!! I just mash the avocado up with garlic powder, salt and pepper and spread it on bread. It makes for the most amazing lunch. Where have you been all my life avocado toast?!
Oatmeal and I had a fallout, but then we reunited and we have never been happier. These have been some ways in which I have been enjoying oatmeal, I also have a recipe for baked oatmeal coming up very soon!
Although December wasn’t exactly the most relaxing month, I would rather not focus on the stress that exams brought. If anything, I can already barely recall having to study everyday, oh how easy the mind can forget! Following a stressful couples of weeks, isn’t it the best feeling to sometimes just sit down and take an afternoon off? Nothing to worry about, just doing whatever your heart desires. Reading and blogging are some of the most awesome ways to just sit back and relax. It’s also fun to watch James play Halo 5, his new Xbox game he got for Christmas!
I read the first book, called The Clockwork Angel, over the summer. At Christmas, I received the following two books in the series and I am so hooked! It is hard to explain the entirety of the books, as I can’t get into a summary of the whole setting of the book as well as the story line without boring those who aren’t interested. It is a fictional book, and although it is set in our world (but in the 1800’s), it also includes a totally different and made up world. I love these books!!! I recommend them to anyone who likes this sort of fiction.
Ciao December, you have been good!
What has been your highlight for the month of December?
